Birthday Fun!

Well my birthday has recently passed and my nearest and dearest family and friends have well and truly spoilt me. I know things are a little slow at the moment, but I can assure you I'm not on hiatus I just have another job thats taking up my time.

Infact I'm about to go work on some illustrations shortly. Just popping by to wish you all a very merry holiday however you spend and celebrate and a big thanks to all my watchers.

Sorry things are all quiet ladies and gents, same story I guess I need a job to keep going and keep the flat and as well for paying for my beautiful little kitten Demi <3
That's right Nicky and I have a kitten together, she is crazy, loving and beautiful and fits perfectly in our flat. She is grey with flecks of gingers and whites.

As for artwork I've landed an llustration gig I'm just waiting on more details to get started, I know Meant for Me has gone quiet but I am still working on it fear not, infact this is my night off so I'm hoping to get the next page finished. I've actually got it all drawn up I need to do the layout and the text. I've also caught a case of the sewing bug but haven't had a chance to do anything.

Anyway, BJD wise I've reshelled Lily and I've my eyes set on the last of my BJD crew, STAR!
Time for me to get going and get some work done, I had an asthma attack yesterday in work and it left me exhausted all day today, I've only just found my energy tee hee!

Art Holiday!

So, I've had enough of the real world for a while so I'm off. Off on an art holiday for a week where I do little more then play PSP and draw!

Why Hello Again!

Hello All!

How are you doing? I've recently got back from a fantastic time at the Rosadoll Con (http://www.rosadoll.co.uk) :iconrosadoll: It will be running next year and seriously my BJD friends, make time for it, it really was a fantastic Con, never a dull moment, but save your pennies because the bring and buy is an awesome way to grab some very much needed BJD things without the cost of shipping and customs!

Art wise things are on the move, I hope, though I'm very much having a 'I need to sort my life out' moment xD I suppose that can't be helped, I do have a lot of personal things going on but for once I wont bore you with them!
I would however, like a chance to tell you all, I now have a website,blog spot and twitter and would love it if you could go along book mark or add me. I'm thinking of a Tumblr, I'm just not so sure on it at the moment heh! The advantage of checking out my website is that you get sneak previews at THE ART OF SHADOWS and their shiny finished version as well as some unique artwork I might not show on here!

Getting the hang of digital!

Been working some more on 'Meant for Me' the manga being written by Kerry Wadsley and Illustrated by myself.
This is the insert page for the manga 'Meant for Me' This is essentially the first page a visual introduction to the characters who will be involved in the story ^_^
So far I've ten pages written out and have begun sketching them all, next to ink and so on. Its a real challenge.

Is it just me who thinks this year is flying by so so fast? We're already in July and worse yet nearing August! I'm still hoping to get The Art Of Shadows published by the end of this year though! I've found and joined a new website to help get some notice of my drawings hopefully soon, its called Paper Demon, any one else hear of it?

Please remember guys I'm still up for commission, I'm still doing face ups and I've still got some prints for sale too < 3 So if you fancy getting some prints or a pretty face on your BJD just drop me a note!

The projects that I'm working on are still Meant for Me the manga which I'm really enjoying I've the first part planned out already and the first few pages done. As well as Art Of Shadows which I'd say is abouy 60% complete so far!

I'm ratehr excited about FFXIII- 2 which hopefully we'll see in January hopefully! Apart from that, how is every one else hm?

Back into the Digital Frey!

So I've been avoiding it for as long as I could now, but oddly starting Tales of Symphonia again reminded me of how much I wanted to colour again, I finally bit the bullet and got some help and got on with it. I'm actually very pleased with the results!

Website and Manga!

Firstly, the website is now up and running, thats right ladies and gents, VALENTINE STUDIOS has been launched!

To celebrate this launch I've been extra busy, firstly there will be the artwork donations for Us Un Ltd, secondly I am working on a new Manga with writer Skyla Rose, and thirdly, as always, working hard on The Art Of Shadows. Throw into the mix that I'm sorting out my wedding and I'm one busy gal and just to show you, I'm not all talk, here's my latest work!

Us Un Ltd

I’m currently getting my website up and running but in the mean time, you know how I like to do lots of things at once!

Us Un Ltd is a fantastic  group of young people who have the drive to set up a project called ‘The Getaway’ The aim of the group is to help promote advice and information to people who are at risk of homelessness. It has also been nominated for the Philip Lawrence Awards Network, showing the very best of the team’s dedication in Flintshire. Not only that the Us Unltd are going from strength to strength as the ladies, Cat, Steph and Shaneice recently won the  Inspirational Young Women Award!

There are many charities and causes that people are able to support these days but having faced dire circumstances myself and this being a close to the heart, close to the home cause I’m pledging myself to assist in any way I can.  In order to help raise funds and awareness Us Un Ltd have a shop in Flint where they sell goods made by their staff and volunteers.

Update and New Art

So where have I been?

No where. That's actually the truth, physically I've not been any where however mentally I've been working on getting out of this pit. Some days are better then others. Other days are lower but hey ho. That's how it goes right?

But anyway, I've new artwork up and new face ups going up as we speak, well type rather. I'm currently hooked on my DS with FF Tactics tee hee.
I really miss my friends, I'm alone here but I'm getting used to it. I've got some wonderful doll friends who I meet once a month, which I have a guest in my doll family at the moment. He's so sweet I'm quiet falling for him myself tee hee. But Kim, god bless her, actually went to the trouble of buying me FF IV The Complete Collection on my PSP just as a cheer up.thankyou.
Then the lovely Lulu sent me a plushie.
Oh which reminds me I can sew dresses now. Lulu helped me and I went to my grandmother and begged her to help xD So expect a lot of dresses soon ^_^

Ack where is the time going? Between Easter Bunnies and Royal weddings we're in May already?
Delays have been caused due to some tattoo work that left me unable to walk >< Buuuut there are updates on the way, Art of Shadows the book is being worked on, images are being cleaned up and getting ready to put in the book as we speak!

What do you like to see in an illustration book though? Character work? Romance? Action? Conflict? Whats your favourite part ne?
For me its the character design!

Characters you hate to draw?

I've been working hard on Art of Shadows but seem to of hit a stumbling block, there is a character I hate. Loathe. Detest. (Well I can't love them all!) It makes drawing her so very difficult.

What about you guys? Any one you hate but have to draw? If so who and why?

Bleugh

Urgh I hate being unwell. I've got a werid cold, sore throat bad chest thing. Bad chest is the most concerning with my Asthma : / But complaints as side, I wonder how many of my artistic friends have ever had this problem.

You want to draw. You desperately want to put pencil to paper and get on with it...But you can't figure out WHAT to draw and everything you attempt you dislike?

Any one? Or is this just another one of my quirks?

Drawing at what time?

Do you have a particular time when you draw best? Is it in the middle of the day, first thing in the morning? Or like me do you have a habit of staying up late and some how drawing! I would say it was a one off but I produced three new images all from staying up late!
I'm actually rather proud of them which is rare for me, I'm especially happy with the one of Kamui. All three pictures are my characters, Kamui, Tsuki and Lex. I hope you enjoy them!

Of Commissions and Earthquakes

I cant even begin to talk about Japan. Alot of people concerned are getting hit with abuse, accused of only caring about the anime and manga. Well I do care, I care about the people, the industries, work, music, art, my friends who are over there right now. I can only hope they make it back safely.

On to more happier times, the lovely Skyla Rose has commissioned me to illustrate her character and her friends character Shade. She's already okayed the pose and the inked work, now its just onto some colouring.

And as for The Art of Shadow I did a huge upload of sneak preview work over on my deviantart account! Some of my favourite pieces of the lovers!

Don't Give In

This is the format for a fair chunk of The Art Of Shadows Illustrations. I really enjoyed working like this and I think it shows in the work. I suppose I'm a little biased, I hate drawing Abyss, but it sadly, wouldn't be the same if I ommited her from everything, you'd never know the face of the bitch that torments Reyes and Nancy.

Up against the odds in a dying world, faced with love, loss, death and betrayal, Stephanie Moule illustrates scenes and emotions as written by Nicola Pennicott.
Reyes is a difficult and misunderstood young man with who has bitten off more than he meant too with a less then human woman. Finding solice in music and alcohol, he drowns his sorrows at a bar that satisifies his needs. There he relucantly meets a young woman, Nancy. This bright young woman breathes life into all she touches and stands out in a world so dark and grim. The darkness haunts Reyes. threatening his every move, watching and waiting to drag him down into pain and torment, suffering and torture again and again. Despite this, the young woman, Nancy manages to bring warmth and comfort to him, but how long can it last when every day maybe your last?

Drawings and the like!

So, even with the release of Pokemon it hasn't managed to stop me drawing, even though now all I wish to do IS draw Pokemon >< I've always loved their art style, so simple yet so cute, I'm especially loving N in this game. However I've not been neglecting my pen and paper although I cant say the same when Final Fantasy DuoDecim comes out!


Firstly, I finished the second page of the Mainframe Comic, written by Marc Jones but illustrated by myself then managed to get a few doodles in, one of my character Remy and one inspired by Alphonse Mucha, a lot of people are surprised to hear me say I'm a fan of Mucha's work, alot of people take one look at me and simply think 'Otaku' and believe all I know about is Manga artists and such, but you'd be surprised.

A Thanks To Renny

Oh my gosh! I was so surprised when I came onto to find I'd been mentioned by a lovely lass - Renny!
Renny and I are both in the BJD hobby and know each other through a forum called Angels Unlimited, its where the cool UK/EU people with dolls hang out. She left such a lovely comment about me I was honestly touched, so yeah, Here's a little shout out back!
Renny has the most beautiful dolls I've ever seen as well as being a polite, friendly and lovely lady. Any one who is a friend of hers is lucky! I loved her random fact of prentending to be a zombie when eating strawberry jelly, classic, next time I have jelly I'm going to do it honour of you!

But I've also a tag to answer back to, 7 facts about myself, okay well. Here we go;

1) I'm Welsh, and damn proud of it too. Yes I had daffodils in my flat on Saint David's Day and yes, I can speak welsh too!

2) I am TERRIFIED of spiders. They are Just greedy, 8 eyes, 8 legs, why? why do you need so many you evil evil spiders.

3) I love to sing though I'm kinda shy I'd love to have the confidence to do Karoke one day

4) I'll only eat carrots cut in sticks, and the only time I'll ever eat circles is when my Nan Kath makes them.

5) The only parts of me I like, are my ever changing hair, my eyes and my tattoos.

6) I taught myself to sew and find it very enjoyable and relaxing

7) I have a huge soft spot for smile.DK. I probably shouldn't admit that publically.

Anyway, hope my facts gave you a laugh, ladies and gents if you fancy doing so, go ahead!

The Gift of Giving

Do you give? If so do you do it often? It could be anything from a hug in a time of need to something very unexpected. I'm very lucky to have wonderful friends who in the past have given me such gifts that I treasure so dearly, that when I miss them, I go to what they have given me, find it comforts me a little miss them a little less.
I've been commissioned to create two custom one of a kind outfits for a friend and I couldn't help feeling a little inspired, so in the gift of giving I drew for her. (Though she doesn't know about it yet!)

Told You It Was An Artwork Day

I managed to get some new artwork up on my Deviantart account. As promised, nothing beats blowing the cobwebs away then some loud music and lots of tea!
First piece was of my character Kamui, I don't draw him nearly as much as I should and the second was a teaser piece I did for Marc Antony Jones before he hired me to work on his comic with him ^^
I'll be putting up more later. See you then I hope!

Today Feels Like An Artwork Day...

I wonder how many artists get struck with the same idea. 'Today I'm going to do nothing more than draw.' I have a few other hobbies that suck up my time as well as being an avid gamer, but today I just feel like putting pen to paper and seeing what comes out.
I've a fair amount of art work for 'The Art Of Shadows' soon to be posted up and I think I might kick that off with some promotional books marks! Perhaps even some mock flyers to be made up to celebrate/advertise its eventual release. I'm not the hottest graphics designer in the world, I prefer to simply draw but I'll give it a go and who knows what will turn out!

I Spy With My Blind Eye

A new piece of work for The Art of Shadows is up, its called 'I Spy With My Blind Eye.' Nancy, who is one of the main characters of the story is pretty much blind. Not in the way that she cannot see, it's that her eyes are very sensitive to light and tend to go a grey hue when she's in the light.

Music? Background noise?

So while you're putting pen to paper, what do you have on in the background?
Is it your favourite band of all time? The favouite band of the moment? Or classical music? Or sound tracks to games or films? Maybe its even it's a film or the T.V, though I don't see Jeremy Kyle being too inspiring for all you artists out there.
I'm curious, what keep you going, or is it just silent...

Personally, I can't work in silence, it's always background music, or a film, mostly, Studio Ghibli or Final Fantasy Soundtracks. So go on, fill me!

Manga Studio?

Well a lovely artist suggested the program to me today <3 http://jatzulam.blogspot.com/ That's Jatzu's blog spot, feel free to go check her out, she has a fantastic style. One I really admire, its so lose and flowing yet at the same time refined and the line work has such depth to it!

Anyway, I was told Manga studio was able to produce better line arts then regular old photoshop, so as we speak I'm downloading the program now and I'll give it a go. I'll see how it works out and let you know how it works out. Feel free to share examples of any of your Manga Studio work here! It's the free trial by the way ^^
